No. Open Connect phone on your PC and scan the QR code with your phone's camera. The remote opens in your phone's browser. iPhone and Android both work.
Yes. The phone talks to your PC directly over your local network, so both need to be on the same Wi-Fi. Some hotel and office networks block devices from seeing each other; if that happens, connect both to your phone's hotspot instead.
The first time you connect a phone, Windows asks whether Owlcue may use the network. Allow it so your phone can reach your PC. Owlcue explains this before it happens, and only listens on your local network while the phone remote is switched on.
Yes. Mirror the text horizontally or vertically for beam-splitter rigs, and the prompter opens on your second monitor automatically.
Yes. Clickers and most foot pedals send PageDown and PageUp, which play/pause and step back a paragraph. The keyboard and scroll wheel work too.
