Privacy Policy

Information we do not collect

No user accounts or logins. No cloud storage or sync. No analytics or tracking inside the app (the website uses analytics only with your consent, see below). No advertising and no sharing with third parties.

Your scripts and settings

Scripts, folders and settings are saved locally on your PC, inside the app's own data folder. They never leave your device unless you copy them yourself.

The phone remote

When you choose Connect phone, Owlcue starts a small server on your PC that listens only on your local network, and stops it when you disconnect. Your phone talks to your PC directly; nothing passes through our servers or the internet.

Pairing uses a one-time code in the QR code, with a 4-digit PIN as a fallback. The remote shows the line you're reading so you can follow along; that text is sent only to the paired phone, over your own network.

Purchases

Owlcue Pro is bought through the Microsoft Store. Microsoft handles the payment; we never see your payment details. The app asks the Store whether Pro is owned and remembers the answer on your PC so Pro works offline.

Website analytics and cookies

This website (not the app) uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location, and device and browser information. These cookies are only set if you click “Accept” in the cookie banner; nothing is loaded from Google before then.

You can decline, or change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer. Declining removes any analytics cookies already set.

The site also remembers your cookie choice and your light or dark mode choice in your browser's local storage. Those never leave your browser.

Contacting us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include, and use it only to reply. No mailing lists, no marketing.

Children

Owlcue is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Changes

If we ever add a feature that changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated before that feature ships.
